About Our Wiltshire Plumbing Service
Wiltshire sits between the affluence of the Bath and Bristol fringe and the open spaces of Salisbury Plain. Swindon, the county's largest town, is a railway town whose New Town development began in the Victorian era and expanded massively through the twentieth century. The GWR heritage is reflected in the housing: Victorian railway cottages in the Old Town, 1930s through to 1980s estates across the town's fringe. Salisbury is a cathedral city of great architectural wealth and a correspondingly demanding heritage property market. The Vale of Pewsey between Marlborough and Devizes is chalk downland with nucleated villages built predominantly from flint and chalk block. Bradford-on-Avon is an extraordinarily well-preserved wool town of Bath stone houses perched on the Avon valley sides.

Plumbing FAQs for Wiltshire
We have a Bradford-on-Avon Bath stone terrace. The stone is very soft and crumbly inside some walls. How do you run pipework through it?
Soft Bath stone requires a different approach to brick. We use diamond core drills rather than percussion drills, work at lower speeds and back off frequently to clear dust. For very friable stone we sometimes prefer to run surface pipework in purpose-built duct rather than risk crumbling the core. We always assess before drilling.
Our Salisbury listed house needs a bathroom update. Are there specific restrictions?
Listed building consent in Salisbury's medieval core is required for any works that affect the character of the building, including changes to floor surfaces that are original, penetrations through historic walls and alterations to original fixtures. We have carried out numerous bathroom renovations in listed Salisbury properties and are familiar with the city's conservation requirements.
Swindon has a lot of new development. Can you do final connections and commissioning for developers?
Yes. We carry out snagging, final connections and system commissioning for new-build developments in Swindon and across Wiltshire. We provide all required building regs documentation and gas commissioning certificates on completion.
