Drain Unblocking
Rapid clearance using CCTV surveys and high-pressure water jetting.
Drain Unblocking & Drain Clearance Services
A blocked drain is more than an inconvenience, left untreated, it can cause sewage to back up into your property, damage your pipework and create a serious health hazard. Our drain engineers provide rapid clearance using professional water jetting equipment, CCTV drain surveys and electro-mechanical tools, typically clearing even the most stubborn blockages on the first visit.
We cover domestic and commercial drain unblocking across London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex. Our vans carry water jetting equipment as standard, which allows us to clear root intrusion, fat and grease build-up, and compacted debris far more effectively than rodding alone. After clearing, we offer a CCTV survey to check the condition of the pipe and identify any structural issues before they become emergencies.
How We Clear Your Drains
- 1
Same-Day Response
Call or book online. For blocked drains, we aim to be with you within hours. Our vans are fully equipped for immediate clearance.
- 2
CCTV Survey
We pass a camera through the drain to identify the blockage type and location, and to check the overall condition of the pipe.
- 3
High-Pressure Jetting or Rodding
The appropriate clearance method is selected. Water jetting at up to 4,000 PSI removes grease, roots and scale that rodding alone cannot shift.
- 4
Clearance Confirmed
We pass the camera through again to confirm the drain is completely clear and flowing freely before we leave the site.

Common Causes of Blocked Drains
The most common causes of blocked household drains are fat, oil and grease build-up in kitchen drains; wet wipes, cotton buds and sanitary products in toilet and soil stacks; and tree root intrusion in older clay or concrete pipes outside the property. Hair accumulation is the primary cause of blocked bathroom basin and bath drains. Commercial properties frequently suffer from fat trap overflow and food waste compaction. Understanding the cause helps us select the right clearance method.
Water Jetting vs. Rodding, Which Is Better?
Drain rodding breaks up and pushes blockages through the pipe but does not clean the pipe walls. Water jetting at high pressure scours the entire internal circumference of the pipe, removing grease films, scale and biological build-up that would otherwise continue to accumulate and cause repeat blockages. For fat and grease blockages in commercial kitchens especially, jetting is far more effective and longer-lasting than rodding. We carry both types of equipment and select the right approach for each situation.
CCTV Drain Surveys for House Purchases
A CCTV drain survey is a worthwhile investment when purchasing an older property. It reveals the condition of underground drain pipes, including root intrusion, collapsed sections, joint displacement and misaligned connections, before you complete on the purchase. Drain repairs can be expensive, and knowing the condition of the drainage system gives you leverage in negotiation or allows you to budget for remedial work. We provide a full written report with video footage.
Drain Unblocking FAQs
Why does my drain keep blocking in the same place?
Repeat blockages in the same location usually indicate a structural issue, a collapsed section, a misaligned joint, root intrusion, or a section of pipe that has belly-sagged (dipped) and collects debris. A CCTV survey will identify the root cause and allow us to carry out a permanent repair rather than repeated temporary clearances.
Is drain unblocking covered by home insurance?
Some home insurance policies include drain cover, but many do not. Policies vary significantly. We recommend checking your policy documents or calling your insurer before booking. We can provide an invoice and report if you need to make a claim.
Who is responsible for drains, me or the water company?
You are responsible for drains within your property boundary that serve only your property. Shared sewers and public sewers, those that serve more than one property, are the responsibility of your water and sewerage company. If you are unsure which applies to your situation, call us and we can advise.
Can you clear drains at night or on weekends?
Yes. Our emergency drain clearance service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Blocked drains that are causing flooding or sewage backup are treated as emergencies regardless of the time of day.
